60-year-old CEO claims she slashed biological age in 4 steps

Tina Woods just turned 60, but she feels younger than she’s ever been.

Woods, London-based entrepreneur andE.O., He spoke glowingly to Business Insider This week, “I have the strength of an ox, dance moves that will get me going all night, and a newfound joy in my marriage and career.”

Tests have revealed that her brain is aging like that of a 35-year-old, while her heart and metabolism are like that of someone in her mid-40s. She explains that her glycan age (a key indicator of biological ageing, measured with a finger-prick test that tracks the amount of chronic inflammation in the body) has dropped from 46 to 35 in the last few years.

“My GlycanAge is great because it gives me a single data point that’s linked to how I’m feeling,” she enthuses.

Woods began her quest for longevity four years ago, after a career transition, the end of child-rearing and going through menopause, and she began researching the book. “Live longer with AI.”

After interviewing longevity experts from around the world, she noticed a trend.

“Most of the things they do every day to stay young are very simple and inexpensive,” she explained to Business Insider. “They usually involve some sort of calorie restriction, a healthy diet that’s high in plants, exercise, and getting enough sleep. Basically, the basics. The kind of stuff their grandmas would tell you.”

The four changes she says she’s made to lower her biological age are taking supplements, eating just one meal a day for most of the week, doing Zumba, and using hormone replacement therapy.

She asserts to Business Insider: “It’s still somewhat controversial, but I believe this is one of the big keys to healthy aging. What really got me hooked on this idea was a conversation I had with New York geneticist and longevity doctor Nir Barzilai, who explained to me that it makes mechanistic sense that a little bit of calorie restriction, and specifically a little bit of fasting every day, might be good for human longevity.”

Woods remains a “devout believer in exercise.” In addition to Zumba dance classes, he strength trains in his home gym and supplements his workouts with YouTube videos.

“My VO2 max, a key indicator of heart health and fitness, is off the charts!” she exclaimed.

In addition to her regular training, Woods gets her heart rate up by dancing at all-night raves in London.

“I get so excited when I’m on the dance floor. Music is my lifeblood. I now DJ as well, and I recently did a huge turnaround at the world’s first long-running rave,” she told Business Insider.

Hormone replacement therapy

Woods began hormone replacement therapy (HRT) at the recommendation of her doctor several years ago when she began experiencing symptoms of menopause.

“I’d always been pretty fit and relatively healthy, but during menopause I noticed I was starting to gain weight, had a general lack of energy, and just didn’t feel like myself,” she told Business Insider. “Loss of libido, problems urinating. WowI thought.”

She started on a patch version of HRT before moving onto topical gel and progesterone capsules.
