A new peer-reviewed study published in the International Journal of Eversicing Science compares the 12-3-30 trend with “self-pace.” Treadmill running.

Researchers tried to determine not only how many calories each method burns, but also how the body burns each training, specifically whether the body uses carbohydrates or fats as fuel.

In the study, 16 Healthy young adults (Men and Female) participated in two workouts: one session, 12-3-30, and one session, running at a pace that could be maintained for about 20-25 minutes.

I adjusted both trainings to burn the same calorie count.

Researchers discovered That 12-3-30 took longer to complete than to run to achieve the same output.

Maelee Wells Sutton, a certified personal trainer at Crunch Fitness in New York, told Fox News Digital that “no surprise” calories burn faster during aerobic intensity training.

“Walking at 12-3-30 is certainly more intense than walking on a flat surface, but less intense than running,” she said.

However, 12-3-30 used more fat as a fuel source. About 41% of the energy came from fat, but 33% during the run. Running was also more dependent carbohydrates For energy.

According to Sutton, participants in the study had already exercised at least three times a week for the past three months.

“That means [the study] “We don’t take into consideration active individuals who actually make up a large part of the population,” she said.

Researchers emphasized that the 12-3-30 benefits of actual fat burning are modest. The total calories burned are still important Weight loss It’s more than whether you’re burning fats or carbohydrates.

“This study confirms what exercise science already knows: the ‘fat burning’ rate of training is not the same as calorie burning,” Sutton added.
