On behalf of the Forchas family, Minneapolis’ Hennepin Healthcare released an update on Monday on the progress of the 12-year-old.
“Sophia is winning!” her family shared. “Your prayers are at work.”

“On behalf of our entire family, we want to spread our deep gratitude to everyone, near and far.
The statement continued, “We are humbled by countless individuals around the world. I lifted her up in prayerincluding Bartholomew, the orthodox patriarch of all his justice and his sacred Pope Leo XIV. ”

The Forchas family has repeatedly said that the survival of her daughter’s “terrifying attack” was “miracle” and that her healing process was “nothing miracle.”
“Every day we will keep her alive and reveal new revelation of moments and circumstances that enabled her to recover,” they wrote. “God has it Hearing our prayers I wrapped Sophia in a soothing embrace. ”

In this latest update, the family reported that Fortus is continuing to make “steady progress” and showing signs of neurological recovery.
Forchas doctors remain “carefully optimistic” like her Medical Team She is preparing to move her from acute care at Hennepin County Medical Center to an inpatient rehabilitation program.

“She’s still on a long journey full of extensive treatments, but her resilience continues to inspire hope at every step,” the family updated.
“Sophia is strong, brave and unshakable in the fight for healing. I ask her to continue praying for her to restore this path.”

The Forchas family has expanded thanks to “exceptional staff at HCMC’s Hennepin Healthcare for tireless dedication and world-class care.”
“To our large family, to our Orthodox Church, to our family at our Announcement School, to our friends and colleagues, and to many strangers who have become Prayer Warrior We are truly grateful for Sofia,” the family said.

The GoFundMe page, set up for Sofia, pointed out that Sofia’s younger brother was inside the school during the shooting but was not physically injured.
