Mount Sinai Hospital, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia and Cornell University, North Shore University Hospital at Northwell Health in Manhasset and NYU Langone Hospital were named to the 2024-2025 Honors Roll.

The media outlet’s annual rankings evaluate nearly 5,000 hospitals across more than 30 medical and surgical services. Five hospitals were named to the winners list, making California the only state to rank higher than New York.
Dr. Robert I. Grossman, CEO of NYU Langone and dean of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, noted that all of NYU Langone’s hospitals have received this honor, including Tisch Hospital in Manhattan, Kimmel Pavilion, NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, NYU Langone Hospital on Long Island and NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn.
“Not only are our overall rankings among the best in the country, but nine of our specialties are in the top five nationally,” Grossman said in a statement to The Washington Post. “Each of our hospitals is unique in the way they deliver superior patient outcomes, all of which contribute to our rankings.”
NorthShore University Hospital ranked in the top 51 in all 10 specialties it serves, Northwell Health said in a statement. Six other Northwell Health facilities also received high marks.

Mount Sinai Hospital leaders said in a memo to faculty and staff that the hospital has been named an Outstanding Hospital for nine consecutive years and ranked No. 1 in the nation for geriatric care services for five consecutive years.

- Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center has been recognized as the second best hospital in the United States for cancer care.
- For cardiology and cardiovascular surgery services, NYU Langone Hospital is ranked second in the nation, followed by Mount Sinai Hospital in fourth place and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia Cornell in fifth place.
- NYU Langone Hospital is ranked number one in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery, while NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia Cornell is ranked fourth.
- In orthopedics, Hospital for Special Surgery on the Upper East Side ranked first, NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital ranked third, and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia Cornell ranked fourth.
