Joe Manganiello Sofia Vergara is responding to claims that she got divorced because her desire to have more children was killing her.
Vergara previously revealed to a Spanish newspaper: El Pais her My ex-husband’s desire for more children was It’s a big part of their split.
“My marriage fell apart because my husband was young. He wanted children and I didn’t want to be an old mother,” she says. “I gave birth to my son at 19 and now I’m 32. I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother. So if love is coming, my husband has to come with it. [his own] The kids.”
In an interview peopleElaborating on her reasons, Vergara added, “I completely respect anyone who wants to be a mother after 50. I just didn’t feel it was fair to bring a child into the world because of my career, the way I live my life and the way I’m in my marriage, and I don’t think I’d be able to give 100%.”
However, Manganiello offered his own perspective.
In a new interview Men’s Journalactor and executive producer Deal or No Deal Island “The press always says I want a family. That’s simply not true.”
“We tried to start a family for the first year and a half,” he explained, “and we had a lot of conversations from the beginning, the first month of dating. I said, ‘If you’re sick of having kids, I understand that. Just tell me, and I’ll know what that means, and I’ll be okay with it.’ But she wasn’t. And I swore to myself that if it didn’t work out, I’d never break up with her. And I didn’t.”
Manganiello told the magazine that while he wants to have children, “that’s not why it all ended. It was because two people were estranged, and that sort of thing happens.”
“To be portrayed as if I was having a midlife crisis and nine years later I gave someone an ultimatum: ‘If you do anything that might be bad for you, I’m gone.’ That was not me.”
Vergara and Manganiello Announcedr Split The couple announced their divorce after seven years of marriage in a joint statement last July. “We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the couple said in a statement. Page 6. “We are people who love and care for each other very much and respectfully ask that our privacy be respected during this new phase of our lives.”

Both former couples have since moved on and are in new relationships: Vergara is dating plastic surgeon Justin Suliman, and Manganiello is with actress Caitlin O’Connor.
