“I think there’s a lot of people that I don’t want to attend, and the reason I don’t want them to attend is because the reasons they’re attending aren’t necessarily the best reasons… Like, they don’t really like me, and I mean, they have their reasons, but they don’t like me enough to attend my funeral,” she said on the “Let’s Be Real” podcast.
Doherty did not name any names, but said, “[They]are going to be there because it’s the politically correct thing to do and they don’t want to look bad, so I want to take the pressure off them and I want my funeral to be a kind of love celebration,” adding, “I don’t want people to be crying and thinking to themselves, ‘I’m so glad that woman is dead.'”
Two names who will not be invited are Jennie Garth and Alyssa Milano.
On the day that Doherty’s death was announced, her former 90210 co-star Garth posted a photo of the two of them together from the 1990s. Instagram She continued, “I am still getting over the loss of my longtime friend Shanann, a woman I would often say was one of the strongest people I knew. Our bond was real and sincere. We had many conflicts but none of them reflect the true nature of our relationship, which was built on mutual respect and admiration. She was brave, passionate, determined and an incredibly loving and generous person. I will miss her but will always hold her in my heart and memory. My heart breaks for her family, Bowie and all who loved her. 💔”
While hundreds of fans liked the post, Doherty’s friends were outraged.
“They weren’t friends, she did it to get likes,” one person said.
Dougherty said people In May, she and Garth put their differences aside, saying, “I see Garth at conventions and we talk and we laugh. I mean, we work really hard at conventions, but we all get along well. Jenny and I were younger and there are things we might have done differently back then, a long time ago, but I don’t particularly hold any grudges against anybody from that show.”
However, Doherty’s friends were appalled by Garth’s post.
But the real anger was directed at Milan. Entertainment Weekly He called Doherty “a talented actress beloved by many.”
“It’s no secret that Shanann and I had a complicated relationship, but underneath it all was someone I deeply respected and respected,” Milano said. “She was a talented actress, beloved by many, and the world would not be the same without her. My condolences go out to all who loved her.”
“It was awful,” Doherty’s friend told me. “Alyssa was awful to Shanann. All the time.”
Earlier this year, on Doherty’s podcast, her “Charmed” co-star Holly Combs spilled the beans, telling the world how Milano got Doherty fired from the show after season three.
“(Alyssa) told us it was either her or (Shannen), and Alyssa threatened to sue us for a hostile work environment.” Combs said producer Jonathan Levin told her:(Milano denies this.)
Doherty also alleged that Combs prevented Milano and her mother, Lynne, from visiting her in the hospital after she had a tumor removed from her uterus, a claim Milano’s mother denied.
So who will be invited to the funeral? Combs, Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling and other real-life friends.
“He’s a very good man,” said Doherty’s longtime spokeswoman, Leslie Sloan. people“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of actress Shannen Doherty.
