Justin Thomas fades after strong start
Justin Thomas is feeling a bit more settled after finishing with a 31. Seven birdies in the first 12 holes put him close to the lead heading into the next 30 minutes or so of the round, but bogeys on the 13th and 15th holes and a missed drive on the 16th hole have Thomas desperate to close the gap to the leader as the third round draws to a close.

Sam Burns in the tournament deficit
The LSU Tiger made a birdie on the 8th hole to improve his score to -4 for the day and 1 under for the championship. Scoring conditions were very good for the first half of the day, but rain is starting to fall in the Royal Troon area.

DP World Tour star Thriston Lawrence is also working his way up the leaderboard.
Among the players posting lower scores early on in the day were some familiar faces we’ve seen in Sunday’s majors before, like Adam Scott and Justin Thomas, but also some lesser known names like Thriston Lawrence, a four-time DP World Tour winner from South Africa who was six under par after the first eight holes and had climbed to 24th in the rankings and in fourth place.

Tiger Woods misses weekend
Tiger Woods missed the cut again this week in Scotland and calls for him to retire for good are growing fast.
Jay Busby of Yahoo Sports wrote that Woods “should keep playing in all of those tournaments for as long as he wants,” and he’s earned it.
