New Denpa Men is now available to download for free from the Nintendo Switch eShop, but the game’s English translation is currently being criticized by users online.
Some have gone so far as to say that the game is machine translated with little to no human involvement, and honestly, after playing a bit of the game ourselves (review coming soon), we can understand their point, although we can’t definitively confirm one way or the other at this point.
When the characters open their mouths and start speaking, there’s certainly an uncanny valley vibe going on and not a single sentence sounds natural, although some of the examples featured online are truly exceptional in both their incompetence and their hilariousness (note the slightly sexual language used in the latter post).
Announced during the latest Nintendo Direct showcase, “The New Denpa Men” is an online experience where you can recruit the eponymous Denpa Men to accompany you on expeditions, plundering dungeons and battling monsters. When you’re not on the go, you can customize your Denpa Men and build your own island.
Denpa Men started life as Denpa Men: Ride the Waves on the 3DS eShop in 2012. It has since been followed by two sequels and Denpa Men RPG Free.
