Marvel Studios SDCC 2024 Panel! The packed hour-long presentation gave us more insight into The Fantastic Four and more, and also revealed some major news about the next two Avengers films.
Past SDCC Marvel panels have introduced big stars to the MCU, but this year’s presentation announced that Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., will be returning as Doctor Doom. Other highlights included: Upcoming MCU movies From Thunderbolts* to Captain America: Brave New World, there was a lot to cover, but we managed to catch all the major announcements and share them here. Captain America: Brave New World Footage Reveals Plan to Rebuild the Avengers and Giancarlo Esposito’s MCU Role
After the opening Deadpool and Wolverine Dance Number,we First public footage The trailer for next year’s Captain America movie, Brave New World, features key characters including Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, aka the Red Hulk, who enlists Sam Wilson to help rebuild the Avengers. It also gives us more details on how the MCU plans to use one of Marvel’s most precious materials, adamantium.
In addition, the cast of the film is Giancarlo Esposito plays Seth Voelker, aka Sidewinder, king of the Serpent Society.Captain America: Brave New World will hit theaters on February 14, 2025.

Marvel releases first footage of Thunderbolts* ahead of 2025 premiere
The Thunderbolts* will enter the MCU with a motley team that includes Bucky Barnes the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), and more. Early footage from the film The film sees Elena confront her personal demons as she takes on Ghost and John Walker (Wyatt Russell).David HarbourIt remains to be seen whether the Guardian can help her. Thunderbolts* will premiere on May 5, 2025.

The Fantastic Four, now officially titled Fantastic Four: First Steps, may be the biggest MCU movie in years. It’s poised to introduce us to Marvel’s most flexible family, and we learned at SDCC that it will be set in a retro-future version of the ’60s. Marvel is also Early footageAhead of production starting this Tuesday, the cast has revealed Mister Fantastic will lead an old-fashioned science show and The Thing will take part in a dating show. Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn and Vanessa Kirby will star as the Fantastic Four when the film premieres on July 25, 2025.
“Rather than thinking about what we individually bring to the table, I think we’re all going to bring the essence of family together,” Quinn said of the film. “It’s a team sport.”
Robert Downey Jr. is Doctor Doom in the MCU

What?! Robert Downey Jr., who launched the MCU and hung up his Iron Man suit in 2019, will be playing one of Marvel’s most infamous villains. Doctor DoomThe Marvel legend had this to say about the casting announcement: “New mask, same job. What can I say? I love playing complex characters.” It’s unclear how many films Victor Von Doom will appear in, but we know he’ll at least be in Avengers 5.
Joe and Anthony Russo to direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars
Robert Downey Jr. isn’t the only veteran MCU actor to reprise the cape. Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo have He will team up with Marvel again to direct “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.”Few details have been revealed about the latter, but Marvel has said it will be released in May 2027. Meanwhile, “Doomsday” appears to be the new title for the film formerly known as “Avengers: Kang Dynasty.” It’s another film shrouded in mystery, but we at least know that Downey Jr. will be returning in a big way. We can expect it to be released in May 2026.
