Jack QuaidAmazon’s “the boysJohn McGregor, producer of the TV series “Nepobaby,” said he “tends to agree” with those who call him “Nepobaby.”
The actor, whose parents are film stars Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid, made the comments during a podcast interview. The Daily Beast Earlier this week.
“So, whatever I do, people are going to take notice,” he said of the “Nepo Baby” label.
“People call me ‘Nepobabe’ and I agree. I am a very blessed person and was able to get representation very early on. That’s more than half the battle.”
“I knew that doors were open to me in a lot of ways that a lot of actors don’t,” he said of his career, adding, “I worked as hard as I could to prove that I deserved to walk through those doors.”
Quaid’s father previously said his son wanted to make his own way without the support of his parents.
“My agent wanted to represent him, and he said, ‘No, I want to do it myself,'” Quaid explained during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2020.
“And then, of course, he got himself an agent and his first movie was ‘The Hunger Games.'”
Quaid made his acting debut in the first Hunger Games film, released in 2012, playing Mar-Vell, a tribute to District 1.
His mother, Ryan, also weighed in on the “Nepobaby” debate, Glamour magazine interview “Jack is so talented. Way more talented than I am,” she said of her son. “That nepo thing belittles his work ethic, his talent and how much of a sense of privilege he is.”
During the podcast, Quaid was asked if he had ever considered following in his mother’s footsteps – who is known for her roles in classics like When Harry Met Sally, Sister In Law and You’ve Got Mail – and starring in a romantic comedy.
“My mother is the undisputed queen of romantic comedies,” Quaid said. “I couldn’t just dive into that world. It had to be the right thing. It had to feel different enough from what my mother had done.”
