While many Michigan residents enjoy outdoor activities during the summer weather, there are several illnesses to be concerned about during the summer, including those related to heat and swimming. A viral disease that can cause serious illness or death in people and pets has now been found in many Michigan counties.
Dangerous viral disease confirmed in more Michigan counties
According to a recent report: Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Residents are being warned to protect themselves and their animals as confirmed cases of the disease in several Michigan counties have risen from 15 to 18, with one county adding a new case recently.

Early symptoms of rabies are flu-like and can last for several days. Later symptoms may include agitation, anxiety, confusion and hyperactivity. MDHHS urges residents to protect themselves and their pets by staying away from wild animals and keeping their pets’ rabies vaccinations up to date.
