Fort Worth — According to a lawsuit, R&B star Chris Brown and a hired entourage brutally beat several men who attended Brown’s concert Saturday night in Fort Worth.
Brown performed at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth on Saturday as part of his 11:11 tour.
According to the lawsuit, filed by the Buzbee Law Firm on behalf of the four plaintiffs, the four plaintiffs and approximately 40 other women were invited backstage in a VIP area at Chris Brown’s performance, an event promoted and advertised by Live Nation, after the show.
Once inside the VIP area, Brown instructed all the women to place their cell phones on a table, after which Brown and his entourage left, closing the door and posting security in front of it, according to the lawsuit.
Approximately 30 minutes later, Brown returned, but the Plaintiffs were ready to leave and were leaving the lounge area. Just before leaving, Plaintiff No. 1 approached Brown, shook his hand, congratulated him on a good show, and said, “Great show. It’s been a while, glad to see you’re doing well. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you.”
Brown shook the man’s hand and replied, “Oh, yeah, I appreciate it.”
According to court documents, a member of Brown’s entourage yelled at Brown, “Hey, don’t you remember you two were arguing?”
Brown then allegedly picked up the sake bottle and replied, “Yeah, yeah. What’s up, you idiot? I ain’t forgotten nothing.”
The R&B singer then allegedly told his entourage to “kill” the man.
Upon hearing this, Plaintiff No. 1 attempted to leave with his friend, but Brown and about seven to 10 of his entourage chased them into a hallway and began punching them, the suit alleges.
According to the complaint, one of Brown’s henchmen, known as Cinco, ran to the left side of the crowd and punched Plaintiff 1 in the chest. At the same time, another member of Brown’s entourage, known as Hood Boss, picked up a chair and threw it at Plaintiff 1’s head.
Brown then allegedly told Marks, DeAndre Conway and others to “kill” Plaintiff 2.
Plaintiff No. 2 said he was outnumbered and tried to run to the stairs to escape at the bottom, but the doors were locked. He said Brown and his entourage then punched him in the face and chest, kicked him in the head and stomped on him for more than 10 minutes.
According to the lawsuit, Brown instructed his entourage to join in the assault at the same time, and the entourage continued to beat Plaintiff No. 2 with clenched fists for several minutes, repeatedly stomped on his head, and kicked him in the face and ribs, causing severe injuries.
The entourage also assaulted and injured two other plaintiffs, all of whom are receiving medical treatment.
Attorney Tony Buzbee said multiple police reports have been filed and at least one of the men who was beaten remains hospitalized.
“Chris Brown has a long history of violence and has been arrested or charged with assault at least 10 times,” Buzbee said in a statement to CBS News Texas. “Enough is enough! The lawsuit filed by the Buzbee Law Firm seeks damages on behalf of the four men who were assaulted and hopes to bring justice to the victims and a permanent end to the intolerable and heinous behavior described in the lawsuit.”
The lawsuit names Brown, three of his associates and Live Nation, and seeks $50 million in compensatory and punitive damages.
The lawsuit alleges that Live Nation failed to ensure the safety of concert-goers who may have been in close proximity to Brown and his associates.
Fort Worth Police confirmed they are investigating an assault reported after the concert.
