With the director Co-Head of DC Studios He has been sharing updates with fans on the social media platform “Threads,” where he posted a lengthy thread praising the city of Cleveland’s hospitality during the production.
“#Cleveland – Today we leave after 6 amazing weeks of filming,” he wrote. “I first came here on a reconnaissance trip just under a year ago and from the moment the terminal tower lit up in Superman’s colors I knew this was a special place. As I walked through the city, people stopped me to tell me how grateful they were that we were filming in their city. Not once, or twice, but dozens of times.”
He continued, “The film’s fantastic background actors, always so fun and entertaining, applauding us after each take, reminded us, the Hollywood cynics, why we make movies in the first place. Jerry [Siegel] Joe [Shuster] “The emotion I felt when you first created Superman was incredible. You embody the spirit of Superman. But I was equally moved by the pride you have for your community, your hometown, your radio station, your restaurant, the places where people gather.”
When asked by a fan if filming was completely finished on the movie, Gunn replied that there were still “a few weeks left,” adding, “It’s a long shoot… but it’s almost done!!”
Superman Production has begun Due for release in February, it will be Gunn and Peter Safran’s first feature film since taking on the helm at DC Studios.
The film will be the first film adaptation focused solely on the Man of Steel in over a decade and will reportedly follow the iconic superhero as he attempts to reconcile his alien heritage with his human upbringing.

Wendell Pierce (Perry White), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen)Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Eddie Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Isabella Merced (Hawkgirl)Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner) and Maria Gabriela de Faria (The Engineer) will join the cast.
Superman It is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.
