A former Chipotle employee has decided to retell a story to explain why he was fired from the restaurant, prompting a response from customers affected by the incident.

Viral infection Tick tock In a video titled “The Chipotle Incident,” which has garnered over 1.3 million views and 160,000 likes, user Life According to Eli (@lifeaccordingtoeli) recounted the events that led to his firing.

“So just about a year ago I lost my job at Chipotle because I made this bowl, and I thought it was about time I re-told this story because I honestly think it’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever done,” he said.

“The Chipotle Incident”

The man then explained that he had received a large number of online orders as he was preparing to close his shop, including someone ordering “12 different bowls,” including one that requested sour cream.

“Who would order 12 Chipotle bowls at 10 o’clock at night?” the man asked, but Eli responded that he cooked all the food himself, though he did admit that he put too much of one ingredient in the last bowl.

“I got to the last bowl and it said, ‘Add sour cream,'” he says, “and I don’t know what happened, but I just kept pouring more and more sour cream into the bowl.”

He added so much sour cream that customers couldn’t enjoy the meal. The former Chipotle employee also admitted to taking a photo of the bowl to send to a friend.

Three weeks later, the man’s supervisor finally mentioned the incident.

Revenge spreads

“I got back to his office and he sat me down and said, ‘This isn’t going to be a very happy story,'” Eli said.

Apparently, the woman posted the bowl to TikTok, where it went viral and garnered over 7 million views, with the comment section filled with messages “bashing” Chipotle.

“It was a total PR nightmare,” the employee admitted.

The man’s boss subsequently released email correspondence between the man and his coworkers, as well as security camera footage of the man making the bowls and taking photos.

The man reportedly quit his job after a dispute with his boss. The Daily Dot first reported the incident. Previous article.

In response to the new clip, the customer decided to provide more details about the incident. Trending Slideshows Uploaded by Beccado1 (@beccado1).

“What sets me apart is that I always bring a receipt,” the video description reads.

The slideshow included a Chipotle receipt from the day of the alleged order, which showed only one bowl was ordered and the order was picked up at 8:30pm instead of 10pm.

“Yeah, I guess because I’ve told this story so many times to so many people, it’s kind of muddled up what actually happened,” Eli replied, “In the end, I just got her order wrong for no reason and obviously lost my job.”
