Houston – Los Angeles Dodgers First baseman Freddie Freeman He will be leaving the organization to return to his family this week after his 3-year-old son, Maximus, was hospitalized.
Freeman flew to Houston with the Dodgers on Thursday afternoon and went through his usual pregame routine on Friday but was removed from the roster and will return to Los Angeles after consulting with the team. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the team has not yet determined a timeline for Freeman’s return.
“It’s certainly emotionally tough for him,” Roberts said. “He needs to be with his family.”

Freeman’s wife, Chelsea, explained in an Instagram Story that the couple’s youngest child had to go to the emergency room, and Freeman rushed out of the clubhouse to see the couple after Tuesday night’s game.

Freeman remained in the Dodgers lineup through Friday before returning home to be with his family.
“He’s trying to be here for his team and for his family,” Roberts said, “but it’s tough to be around your child when they’re going through something so difficult, understandably. He’s certainly had a heavy heart these past few days. We just pray that Max recovers well and makes a full recovery.”
