Houston – Los Angeles Dodgers First baseman Freddie Freeman He will be leaving the organization to return to his family this week after his 3-year-old son, Maximus, was hospitalized.

Freeman flew to Houston with the Dodgers on Thursday afternoon and went through his usual pregame routine on Friday but was removed from the roster and will return to Los Angeles after consulting with the team. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the team has not yet determined a timeline for Freeman’s return.

“It’s certainly emotionally tough for him,” Roberts said. “He needs to be with his family.”

Dave Roberts said he does not expect Freddie Freeman to return for this series, and it has yet to be decided whether to make any changes to the line-up to place him on the family emergency list.

Freeman’s wife, Chelsea, explained in an Instagram Story that the couple’s youngest child had to go to the emergency room, and Freeman rushed out of the clubhouse to see the couple after Tuesday night’s game.

According to the post, doctors told the family that Maximus had temporary synovitis, a temporary inflammation of the hip joint. To the National Institutes of Health The move is a byproduct of his son contracting the virus while in Arlington, Texas, for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game last week.

“The staff at Children’s Hospital were amazing,” Chelsea wrote after Maximus was released from the hospital at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. “Nothing is more painful than seeing my child in pain. My heart breaks for all the families who have it worse. Thank you for your prayers.”

Freeman remained in the Dodgers lineup through Friday before returning home to be with his family.

“He’s trying to be here for his team and for his family,” Roberts said, “but it’s tough to be around your child when they’re going through something so difficult, understandably. He’s certainly had a heavy heart these past few days. We just pray that Max recovers well and makes a full recovery.”

The Dodgers made no roster changes for Freeman and played Friday’s game with one fewer player. Houston Astros. Major League Baseball If necessary, we maintain a minimum three-day family medical emergency list for such occasions.
