Pixel leaks are inevitable. Even though Google moved up the launch date by two months, the leaks just keep coming. a lotFrom renders to promotional videos and more, we know everything there is to know about the Pixel 9 series at this point, so let’s break down all the latest findings.
Starting with the base model Pixel 9, Google will offer a 6.3-inch device in four colors with the same camera configuration as the Pixel 8, Tensor G4, and 12GB of RAM, according to the leak. This device will feature a matte finish rail and a glossy glass back and will be the cheapest version. 899 eurosUS pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, but it’s safe to assume it will be between $599 and $799 — the Pixel 8 retails for $599 in the US but for €799 in Europe, so $699 is more likely.
Next up, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will make up Google’s “flagship” duo. These devices run on the same Tensor G4 chip, but with 16GB of RAM, a new high for a Pixel and a new minimum for the series. They also have slightly improved camera sensors (plus a telephoto lens, of course). The main camera appears to be the same, but the ultra-wide and selfie cameras have both been upgraded. According to leaks, Google’s “Pro” series will also have a launch lineup of four colors. Applying the same leak and pricing logic as for the Pixel 9, the Pro duo will likely be priced at $999 and $1,099.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the oddly named successor to the Pixel Fold and is set to be a major improvement over Google’s foldable smartphone. Gone is the short and wide form factor of the original, instead the new device will have a taller outer display and Visit OnePlus Openand a huge internal display. According to the leak, the inner bezels are gone, the camera is mostly unchanged, and it will probably be available in more countries. The price of this product is not expected to change.
And of course, there’s a lot of AI involved.
Leaked promotional videos and marketing materials have revealed several new features: Gemini will let you generate more advanced information using photos (a classic Google example is creating recipes using photos of the contents of your fridge), the Magic Editor will enable text prompts, and “Add Me” will let you add people to group photos who weren’t there to begin with.
While there’s likely more surprises in store, the Pixel 9 series is looking pretty good, and there’s more on the way: Google is also releasing the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2, with more info coming out on those this week.
