On his working day, Barrett wakes up in the middle of the night and goes outside towards the ice bath.
He then drove to the Bronx for an hour, where he works with the NYPD warrants department. This was a very specialized unit that rounded out dangerous offenders and wanted serious crimes.

But before the Bullet punches, the 6’1″ detective hits Jim, pumps iron and hits the treadmill.
He then goes home and spends quality time with his family, working on a regular police shift from 3:30am to about 3pm, usually before falling asleep by 8pm.
“Training is a top priority. I’ve been doing this for 21 years.”
Over the weekend, Barrett gets up around 3am and hits an ice bath, allowing his family to free up the rest of the day before exercising in a dedicated home gym.
And if he’s there On vacationas he was recently in the Cayman Islands, Barrett slams the sandy beach at night with a torchlight tied to his head – that’s before his gym session.

“Getting my training is my number one priority, and my wife thinks I am crazy.
“And not only set the standard for the day, especially the first thing in the morning, it will be me. It will be me. No matter where I am, what time I have to wake up, what is happening – I will train.”

Barrett said getting out of bed early isn’t more complicated than people think.

Family traditions
Barrett said his goal is to follow in the footsteps of his late grandfather, a police officer in New Jersey, and have a lifelong career with the Force.
Today, Barrett proudly wears his grandfather’s police badge as a necklace.

In an interview, Barrett’s young son Henry said he wanted to follow the family’s police traditions as well.
“I feel like I’m living the best life. I really love my life and I tell people even in today’s crazy climate… being a cop is a great job,” DET. Barrett said. “I encourage everyone who thinks about it. Go for it.”
