Former Alabama running back Ahmad Galloway was found dead in his St. Louis apartment on Monday. by WVTM13.
Galloway, 42, was an 8th grade English teacher at Compton-Drew Middle School in St. Louis. Susan Reid, the school’s principal, said she was found dead during a check-up.
“Ahmad was always on time and very responsible, so I knew something might be wrong,” Reed told WVTM13. I think it may have been a medical problem.”

The cause of death for Galloway, who played for the Crimson Tide from 1999 to 2002 and tallied 1,830 yards and 17 touchdowns, has not been determined.
“Coroners are working to determine how Ahmad died,” Reid said. “Families are coming together from different parts of the country before deciding on funeral arrangements.”
Galloway primarily backed up future NFL MVP Sean Alexander during his Tuscaloosa days. He was selected by the Broncos in the 7th round of his 2003 NFL Draft and spent his rookie season while rehabilitating a knee injury he sustained during his senior year at the University of Alabama.

“When Ahmad arrived in Bama, he was humble but matured beyond his years,” former Crimson Tide offensive lineman Griff Redmill told WCTM13. I knew immediately that he was someone who could be my lifelong friend.”
Back on the field, Galloway played with Scottish Claymore in NFL Europe before spending a season with the San Diego Chargers. The last time he played was in Frankfurt in his Galaxy in 2005.
Galloway became a high school coach in 2010. He has two children with him, Austin and Aubrey.

“Ahmad was always quiet and humble,” said Galloway’s sister Kimberly Slaughter. “My brother loved football and later his children Austin and Aubrey.”
Reid said the school’s doors to Galloway’s classrooms would be kept shut out of respect, and added that students would make signs and banners in his memory. I’m here.
