Longtime host of NBC’s “The Today Show” Hoda Kotb talks about a deeper reason why she decided to leave the post.
KOTB returned as a guest for the first time on Wednesday since leaving “Today” in January.
On appearance, she revealed that her young daughter, Hope, 6, had been diagnosed Type 1 diabetes.
Kotb, 60, pointed out that he would spend more time on both Her daughterwhich was one of the motivations to leave, including 8-year-old Haley.
She told Today.com that Hope’s condition was “undetectedly measured.”

“You just get a priority check in your life,” Kotb announced to Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin co-Amman during the segment. “I can be here and sweating about what’s going on with hope in the mornings and evenings.
Kotb emphasized that she would not “worrise” her hopes, adding that her daughter “is great for most of the day.”

“There are moments when you have to look at her,” Kotobu said. “I was totaling it. 5 minutes for breakfast, 5 minutes for lunch, 5 minutes for dinner, and sometimes overnight.”
“Together, it’s 30 minutes. So, for 23 and a half hours, she’s the other kids. So, I’m going to try and remember that.”
