EL SEGUNDO — Former University of Southern California wide receiver and current Minnesota Vikings star Jordan Addison was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after he was caught drowsy at the wheel near Los Angeles International Airport, authorities said Sunday.
According to an arrest report obtained by the Southern California News Group, around 11:06 p.m. Friday night, the Los Angeles Communications Center notified the California Highway Patrol that a disabled vehicle was blocking lanes from westbound Glen Anderson (105) Freeway to northbound Sepulveda Boulevard.
According to the arrest report, officers who responded to the scene reported that a white Rolls Royce was blocking lane one of the freeway and that “the driver was asleep at the wheel.” A California Highway Patrol (CHP) spokesperson confirmed Sunday that the driver was asleep at the wheel when officers arrived on the scene.
Addison, 22, was arrested at approximately 11:36 p.m. after a DUI investigation was concluded. He was released at 1:36 a.m. Saturday, according to reports. No other information was immediately available from the California Highway Patrol on Sunday.
Addison’s attorney, Timothy Younger, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment Sunday afternoon.
“We are aware of the arrest of Jordan Addison last Friday and are currently gathering more information regarding the incident,” the Minnesota Vikings said in a statement obtained by Southern California News Group.
Addison transferred from the University of Pittsburgh to USC in 2022 after being named an All-American at Pittsburgh in 2021 and winning the Fred Biletinoff Award. Quarterback Caleb Williams was recruited aggressively. While in the portal, he quickly became Williams’ top deep threat and was a key contributor to the Trojans’ turnaround in coach Lincoln Riley’s first season, earning All-Pac-12 first-team selection after 59 catches for 875 yards and eight touchdowns.
Addison was selected by the Vikings with the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft after a standout senior year at USC. He caught 70 passes for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns during his rookie season.
Addison, who was driving a Lamborghini Urus, was pulled over and charged with speeding and reckless driving on July 20, 2023, prior to participating in his first training camp with the Vikings.
