More than five years have passed since the first generation was introduced. Galaxy Buzz, Samsung Finally, the third generation of earphones has been released. Galaxy Buzz 3These are more advanced Galaxy Buds 3 Pro The company also announced a number of other products at its Galaxy Unpacked event.
The Galaxy Buds 3 are Galaxy Buds 2The new earbuds offer significant improvements over their predecessors in terms of design, robustness, durability, connectivity, audio quality, call quality, battery life and advanced features. Let’s take a closer look at those improvements.
New design and superior durability
The Galaxy Buds 3 have a significantly different design of the earbuds and charging case compared to the Galaxy Buds 2.
Starting from the earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 3 use a stem design similar to the Apple AirPods, which offers several advantages:
First, the Galaxy Buds 3 look more appealing because they don’t stick out from your ears as much as the Galaxy Buds 2. Second, they fit comfortably and securely in your ears. Third, the stem design brings the microphone closer to your lips for better call quality, which we’ll explain in more detail later.
Samsung has made the Galaxy Buds 3 more sturdy and durable compared to the Galaxy Buds 2. The older earbuds are water- and dust-resistant to IP52, while the newer ones are IP57.
This makes the Galaxy Buds 3 more resistant to water, rain, sweat, and dust than the Galaxy Buds 2. This also puts Samsung’s earbuds ahead in terms of durability than most others on the market, including the Apple AirPods, which are IP54 rated.
As for the charging case, it has a vertical design as opposed to the horizontal design of the Galaxy Buds 2. This takes up a lot less space on your desk. The charging case also has a clear lid, so you can see which earbuds are in the case and which aren’t, reducing the chances of losing them. The vertical design should allow case makers to offer better cases for the Galaxy Buds 3.
Pairing button
The charging case for Galaxy Buds 3 has a pairing button that Galaxy Buds 2 does not have. This button allows you to quickly pair your earbuds with a new device. Here’s how to use it:
If your Galaxy Buds 3 are already paired with a device and you want to pair them with a new one, simply press and hold the pairing button on the charging case for a few seconds to put them into pairing mode. Once in pairing mode, your Galaxy Buds 3 will be discoverable by the device you want to pair these earbuds with.
Better Audio Quality
The Galaxy Buds 2 comes with a dual-driver design, while the Galaxy Buds 3 comes with a single-driver audio setup.
You might think that the sound quality of the Galaxy Buds 3 isn’t as good as that of the Galaxy Buds 2. But that’s not necessarily true. There are plenty of single-driver earbuds that sound better than earbuds with two or more drivers. We won’t know how the Galaxy Buds 3 sound until we test it thoroughly.
In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy Buds 2 came with Bluetooth 5.2, whereas the Galaxy Buds 3 comes with Bluetooth 5.4. The newer version of Bluetooth offers a more stable and secure connection compared to the older version, which means that the Galaxy Buds 3 should experience less dropped connections than the Galaxy Buds 2.
In addition to a new version of Bluetooth, the Galaxy Buds 3 also feature the SSC HiFi and SSC UHQ audio codecs. In comparison, the Galaxy Buds 2 only feature SSC. SSC stands for Samsung Scalable Codec, and UHQ stands for Ultra High Quality. The two new audio codecs offer a sampling rate of 24bit/96KHz, allowing higher quality audio to be sent from your Galaxy device to the earbuds, significantly improving audio quality.
Improved call quality
As mentioned above, the microphone on the Galaxy Buds 3 is closer to your lips than the microphone on the Galaxy Buds 2, which means better quality voice recordings and better call quality. However, the latest earbuds come with two new features that improve call quality even further.
The microphone on Galaxy Buds 3 is equipped with Super Wideband (SWB) technology, which allows the microphone to record audio at a much wider bandwidth than the microphone on Galaxy Buds 2. The wider the bandwidth, the better the sound quality.
This technology means that Galaxy Buds 3 can capture your voice more accurately and transmit it to the other person on the call, allowing them to hear you with exceptional clarity.
Despite these improvements, the Galaxy Buds 3 may not capture some parts of your voice properly if you speak too quietly or there is too much background noise. Using Galaxy AI, the Galaxy Buds 3 will help reconstruct the lost parts of your voice to help the other person hear you clearly. The Galaxy Buds 3 also come with another Galaxy AI feature, which we’ll talk about later.
Extending Battery Life
The Galaxy Buds 3 charging case has a 515mAh battery, which is 9% larger than the battery in the Galaxy Buds 2 charging case.
With this improvement, total audio playtime has increased by 4 hours with ANC on and 1 hour with ANC off, while total talk time has increased by 5 hours with ANC on and 6 hours with ANC off.
These are impressive numbers. You can check the battery backup of the new earphones in the image below.

It’s important to note that the battery capacity of the Galaxy Buds 3 is smaller (48mAh vs 61mAh) compared to the Galaxy Buds 2. Luckily, this doesn’t affect the battery backup figures of the earbuds, as you can see from the image above.
Galaxy AI for Real-time Language Translation
With Galaxy AI on Galaxy Buds 3, you can hear what the other person is saying in their own language in real time through the earbuds, a super handy feature not available on the Galaxy Buds 2.
To use this feature, put the Galaxy Buds 3 in your ears, Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Galaxy Z Flip 6Click , select a listening mode, and you’re ready to go. Here’s hoping that Samsung will extend this feature to older Galaxy phones and tablets in an update to Interpreter.
All these features make the Galaxy Buds 3 much better than the Galaxy Buds 2. If you think these features are worth the upgrade and are considering buying them, check out the price and release date of the latest earbuds. In the article Or, pre-order by clicking the link below.
