McKechnie didn’t know until the time his doctor reviewed the results during an unrelated appointment a year later.

“I was so shocked and worried to hear that I was prediabetic,” he said.

“I’m a neurologist – this is why dementia is rising and how to reduce the risk.”

McKechnie continued. Poor health. ”

Determined to turn things around, McKechnie made some major changes – not just what he ate, but how he did.

He cut out the chocolate and chips every night, started eating the whole nutritious food, and began chewing the food more slowly.

Now his lunch – a whole wheat chicken sandwich – takes him 40 minutes to eat.

“I’m treating very occasionally now, and I’m getting much smaller,” McKetchney told SWNS.

He added, “If I turn my mind to do something, I will do it and I’ll lower my blood sugar level even further.”

The four grandfathers said he no longer struggles with his sugar cravings and doesn’t feel the urge to run into the store to fix the chocolate.

He also keeps busy looking after his 18-month-old grandson and teaches two dance classes a week.
