Ramsey Solutions host Ken Coleman said employers will need to mentor younger workers more than they have in the past.

Resignation 2.0 is on the way, with nearly three in ten workers To quit a job By the end of 2024, younger workers may be leading the change.

According to a survey released Wednesday by Resume Builder, 28% of 1,000 full-time workers surveyed plan to leave their jobs by the end of the year, with the highest rates being in the service industry and among workers aged 18-34.

“Younger workers tend to be more likely to switch jobs as they try to determine what role, industry and environment is best for them,” said Julia Toothaker, career strategist at Resume Builder. According to a recent report Explain the data in detail.

“Plus, changing jobs every few years can help you increase your salary faster, and the early stages of your career are the best time to do it,” she adds.

These younger workers are looking for a more comfortable working environment, and more than half (56%) of those unhappy with their current situation cite low wages as their reason for wanting to leave.

Forty-four percent of respondents said they wanted improved employee benefits, slightly less so than those who wanted less stressful jobs (43%).

Remote work options are another priority for workers looking at their next job after retirement, and Toothaker said that if candidates become harder to find, that could lead to increased demand from workers and a shift to more remote or hybrid work.

“this is Job market“That’s why we’re seeing so many RTO mandates. Once the market gets back to candidate-centric, we’ll start seeing more perks,” she explained in the report.

Former Walmart president and CEO Bill Simon has argued that it’s “unsettling” for companies when employees quit their jobs.

Broken down by the numbers, 21% of respondents said they were “somewhat likely” to quit their job this year, while 7% thought they were “very likely” to change jobs.

The first “Great Resignation” came in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which led 47 million Americans to quit their jobs in 2022 alone, with many later regretting their decision. According to the survey It will be published by Paychex in February 2023.

As businesses return to the office, employees are taking on the workload of those who took part in the “mass resignation.”
