The Galaxy Ring is Samsung’s unique option in the smart ring market. The new ring comes equipped with gesture controls, giving it an edge over other existing wearables in terms of form factor. Here’s how these gestures actually work.

In practice, Samsung’s gesture controls are very similar to what’s already present on the Galaxy Watch lineup: With the finger wearing the ring, users can pinch tap with their thumb, and the tiny impulse of the finger tap is detected by the ring and read as the activation of a specific function.
While this isn’t exactly what we were hoping for, it’s a nice addition that makes the Galaxy Ring a bit more valuable.
how to use Galaxy Ring Gestures allow users to perform two actions at the time of writing. First, they allow you to dismiss an alarm that is ringing on your Galaxy smartphone. Second, they allow you to take a photo when the camera app is open. This is useful on phones like the Galaxy Fold 6 and Flip 6 as it allows you to prop up your phone without needing a tripod or third-party stand.
There’s a slight delay between initiating the gesture and the shutter firing, which can make it a little difficult to return your hand to a natural position before capturing the image. Still, it’s a cool feature.
Another thing to note is that the Galaxy Ring needs to be paired with a Galaxy smartphone in order to use gestures — you can pair it with a Pixel or other Android device, but the feature will be unavailable.
How to turn on gesture control
The best way to adjust the settings on your Galaxy Ring is through the Samsung Wearable app. Although the Galaxy Ring primarily provides information through the Samsung Health app, turning on gesture control must be done through the Wearable program.
- open Samsung Wearable Apps.
- Find and open Galaxy Ring Page.
- Scroll down and tap gesture.
- Turn on gestures as needed.
Please try it once the feature is enabled. Galaxy Ring It’s designed to be worn on your index finger, but works equally well on other fingers — I personally like to wear my smart ring as a wedding band, so I wear it on my ring finger — and as far as I can tell, it doesn’t cause any issues with accuracy or gesture control functionality.
