HP decides to step up in the AI PC market, unveiling cutting-edge OmniBook Ultra with industry-leading AI performance powered by AMD Ryzen AI 300 APU
HP is all set to show its dominance in the AI PC space through the release of its latest laptops. The company has been silent for a long time while competitors like ASUS and Acer have been showcasing their AI PC related products. But it seems that HP too has decided to break its silence in style. The company has unveiled its most powerful OmniBook Ultra AI PC laptop. “Imagine AI” Event At an event in New York last Thursday, HP expressed great optimism about integrating AI into consumer products, arguing that AI will enable everyone to be creative.
The company didn’t reveal the laptop’s full specifications, but did tout it as the “highest performing AI PC” and reveal that it’s powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 “Strix” APU.

Since the focus was all on AI, HP showed off the AI TOPS performance it was able to squeeze out of the Omnibook Ultra, which the company claims delivers 55 NPU TOPS, 5 TOPS higher than the official 50 TOPS rating of the same Ryzen AI 300 family.
Comparing the HP OmniBook Ultra’s SoC to competing products such as Apple’s M4 chip, the NPU performance is reported to be 45% higher, nearly double that of the M3. HP says that in partnership with AMD, they have succeeded in creating a device that offers the industry’s fastest AI performance. The OmniBook Ultra also features a “co-engineered” design, which is why the Ryzen AI 300 chip delivers 55 TOPS of AI performance. By working with AMD to increase the clock of the AI Engine, HP was able to further increase the NPU TOPS.
The HP OmniBook Ultra is also certified for Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC program. It offers up to 21 hours of battery life and HP AI Companion for a personalized experience. The laptop also offers an IPS LCD panel with a 2240 x 1400 resolution and a brightness of up to 300 nits. Interestingly, the OmniBook Ultra also offers Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, making it the first laptop in the AMD camp to adopt this standard.
As for pricing, the OmniBook Ultra will retail for $1,449.99 and is expected to be available by early August.
