Update, 8:59 p.m.: Humble Games confirmed that while restructuring is underway, the company “will not be closing” and “future releases will not be affected.”

This decision was not made lightly and is the result of much thought and careful consideration, with the goal of ensuring stability and support for our developers and ongoing projects. Additionally, Humble Games’ restructuring will not impact Humble Bundle’s business.”
“We are acutely aware of the significant impact this decision will have on our Humble Games team members, and we empathize deeply with all who are affected. Our team’s contributions are invaluable on a global level and have underpinned the launch of our games since they launched in 2017. We are committed to navigating this transition with as much empathy and understanding as possible.”

A former Humble developer said he was told this morning that all 36 employees had been laid off without notice and that the company was closing down.
Humble Games has not made an official announcement about the decision to close the game, but the company has posted on its social media channels: X/Twitter This morning, we were answering players’ questions and inquiries about our latest title, Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus.
“At 9am this morning, 36 Humble Games employees were informed they were being laid off and the company was shutting down,” explained former BizDev executive Niki Kwan, who wrote the following account of what happened: LinkedIn.
“The games industry is unstable and full of people who only want rapid growth at the expense of great teams making great games,” added former 2D artist Emily Kiefer.
“Billionaires and CEOs are making record profits at the expense of the employees who actually build the products, but I believe we have the power to create studios that benefit us as game developers, not people who only see them as money-printing machines,” Kiefer added.
