Nintendo World Championship: NES Edition has officially launched on the Switch, and retro gaming enthusiasts who have picked up the game are starting to discover all the cool (and not-so-cool) things about it.

This was highlighted on social media, with video producer Zion Grassl also commenting on our Nintendo Life’s “Hands-On” Preview Coming in JuneHe said:
“You can also share your favorite NES games with the world. It contains a list of almost every game officially released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, even games that we don’t think were mentioned due to licensing issues. Spy vs. Spy and SupermanIt doesn’t have a box art, but as a 25-year NES fan, this is a small detail that I like. I glanced through the list and The Beginnings of Earthbound and Bubble Bobble“
So, if you don’t already have this new release, Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is packed with retro goodness. Unfortunately, the game isn’t all that popular, leaderboard-wise. Reviewer PJ O’Reilly spoke about this in an updated version of the review. Nintendo Life Review:
“Since the start of the live stream, it has become clear that the leaderboard here does not work in-game the way we imagined it would, which has caused quite a stir among players. The leaderboard is not freely accessible at any time, and you cannot see your friends or compete directly with their results. Furthermore, you can only access the rankings at the end of the weekly challenge, so you have no freedom in how you compete. This is a silly decision and one we did not expect. We hope it will be resolved as soon as possible.“
