What is GLP-3S? Introducing a new generation of weight loss pills with three key ingredients

Bunney, 45, admitted she started feeling sick within the first week of receiving the dose from a “reputable wellness center” in Nashville. Within two weeks, she noticed that she looked and felt slimmer. In the fourth week she increased her dose That’s when she realized she was “mentally paralyzed.”

“I literally went into the worst suicidal depression since 2020,” she said. “I’m talking about how scared I was. I didn’t think I would make it through those two weeks. It was like I was praying to God.”

The podcaster talked about how she had “no emotions” and was unable to listen to music that normally “brings me joy.”

“My eyes looked black,” she said. “I just drove in silence because I couldn’t do anything about it. It was either too stimulating or I had reached my limit.” stole my joy. I had no joy. There was nothing to live for. It was very dark. ”

After 20 days off medication, Bunny reported that her joy was “finally” returning and called the experience “a battle.”

“My story is not about what happens to you,” she shared with listeners. “There are a lot of people who take Rita and love it. But something happened to me.”

Indiana-based drug company Lilly confirmed in a statement to Fox News Digital that letaltortide is an “investigational molecule that is legally available only to participants in Lilly’s clinical trials.”

“No one should consider taking anything claiming to be letartortide outside of a Lilly-sponsored clinical trial,” the spokesperson wrote. “This is not a Lilly product, and the company continues to warn the public about the potential dangers of counterfeit medicines.”

Fox News senior medical analyst Dr. Mark Siegel responded in an interview with Fox News Digital, warning that people shouldn’t take ritartide while it hasn’t already been administered. FDA approval Unless it’s part of a clinical trial.

“This drug is a new drug and is known as a triple agonist (GLP-1, GIP and glucagon receptor agonist),” he said. ”[It] Like GLP-1 drugs, it is potentially associated with depression and suicidal ideation, but some studies have shown increased psychiatric risk, so there is a potential link here as well. ”

The drug is nicknamed “GLP-3” because it targets three hormones, and experts suggest it may lead to even greater weight loss.

In December, Lilly announced the results of TRIUMPH-4, a phase 3 study testing the effects of letaltortide on things including weight loss. health condition.

Participants with obesity, knee arthritis Patients taking 12 mg of letaltortide experienced an average weight loss of 71.8 pounds (28.7%) at week 68.

“We believe letaltortide may be an important option for patients with significant weight loss needs or certain comorbidities, such as knee osteoarthritis,” a Lilly spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Seven additional Phase 3 trials of letaltortide are scheduled to conclude in 2026, according to GoodRx. According to GoodRx, the drug could receive FDA approval in 2027.

GoodRx and other experts say that although there is limited data available on the drug, the drug could also be used to treat other conditions such as type 2 diabetes, kidney disease, cardiovascular risk reduction, and metabolic dysfunction.

Siegel confirmed that letaltortide’s side effects may be similar to other GLP-1s. gastrointestinal symptoms Other rare reactions include pancreatitis, gallstones, and cardiac arrhythmias.

Dr. Philippe Rabito, a New York City endocrinology, weight loss and health expert, said in a previous interview with Fox News Digital that this new class of weight loss drugs “approaches bariatric surgery-level results,” but they are not without risks.

“New glucagon agonist ingredients introduce long-term safety considerations that are poorly understood, so it is imperative that patients follow closely the following: medical worker “Despite the impressive efficacy of this class of drugs, there is experience with cautious and gradual use,” he warned.

The potential association between mental health symptoms and weight loss drugs is likely due to the following effects: brain reward systemaccording to Siegel.

“Dopamine, serotonin, and noradrenaline influence mood and appetite, reduce cravings, and can have positive effects on mood, but they can also have negative effects,” he said. “It’s a little unpredictable.”

“It is essential to understand the patient’s complete medical and psychiatric history, including any other medical history. medical condition“These include the exact dynamics of weight change, concomitant medications, and psychosocial stressors. Major depressive episodes are multifactorial, and it is premature to attribute them to a single cause without this context,” he said.

People experiencing these symptoms “should seek professional help immediately,” Balazs said.

“The psychiatric effects of these drugs are still being studied, even if they are already approved,” he added.

Depending on the age of the bunny, it is usually placed in the following positions: perimenopauseThis could include “significant fluctuations” in reproductive hormones such as estrogen, Balazs said.

“Estrogen is well-documented to have neuroprotective and mood-stabilizing effects,” he said. “Decreased brain function makes the brain more vulnerable to stress and dysregulation, which can trigger or worsen depressive episodes.”
