CNET’s David Culnoy tested Kindle Scribe “It strikes a really nice balance between a large format e-reader and an E Ink note tablet.” It has a 300 pixels per inch, front-lit, 10.2-inch, E Ink touchscreen, adjustable warm light, and offers weeks of battery life on a single charge. It’s the largest Kindle to date, and yet it weighs just under a pound. It’s certainly portable, but you’ll want to invest in a cover that doubles as a stand. Purchased separately.

Depending on which model you buy, Scribe comes with either a standard or premium stylus. Each stylus attaches magnetically to the side of the Scribe and requires no power or Bluetooth connection, so you never have to charge it. Higher-end pens essentially work like a regular pencil (with a built-in eraser) and even have programmable buttons. You can use the stylus to mark up a PDF, and it’s easy to send that document to the device itself. Note, however, that you can’t mark up Kindle eBooks or DRM-free ePub eBooks. You’re essentially adding “sticky notes” to something other than a PDF.
If you want to buy this device at the lowest price, Basic PenIt costs $235 (a savings of $105) and comes with 16GB of storage. Premium Pen Options are available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB configurations.
