Do or die.
Exciting new research suggests that having more sex could benefit women’s hearts and help them live longer.
This recent, outrageous study Journal of Mental HealthThe study found that women aged 20 to 59 who had infrequent sexual activity (less than once a week) had a 70% higher risk of all-cause mortality.
Researchers at Walden University in Minnesota analyzed data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey of 14,542 American adults ages 20 and older and concluded that women may benefit from having intimate relations at least once every seven days.
“Sexual activity is important for overall cardiovascular health by reducing heart rate variability and increasing blood flow,” the authors write.
The research team also found that the combination of depression and less frequent sexual activity was associated with an increased risk of death.
But depression has a much less harmful effect on sexually active people, especially women, said lead author Dr Srikanta Banerjee. Daily Mail.
“The theory is that depression will affect men differently than it affects women,” he said.
“Depression is associated with poorer health and increased mortality,” he explained, and he thought the endorphins released by sex might be the key to preventing poor health.
“Depression affects women more severely, so sex may be more effective for them.”
However, it appears that women could benefit from having more sex, while men could benefit from having less sex.
Researchers found that excessive sexual activity may increase men’s risk of death by six times compared to women.
“This indicates that sexual frequency interacts with sex to increase mortality,” the researchers wrote.
“The implication is that by addressing sexual frequency, we can more directly address other health disparities as well.”
