Confirmed cases of measles Washington DC The contagious people have been investigated by health officials after visiting several locations in the district.
The DC Department of Health has warned the public about potential revelations in a press release shared late Tuesday morning.

Measles is a A highly contagious virus When an infected person coughs or sneezes, it spreads into the air. Symptoms usually begin 7-14 days after exposure. Symptoms include fever above 101°F, cough, runny nose, and red or watery eyes.
The most distinctive symptoms of measles are rashes that appear three to five days after the onset of symptoms, but start on the face and spread throughout the body. Infected individuals can spread measles four days before the rash appears and up to four days after it appears.

If you have been exposed to measles or are in one of the DC Department’s shared locations during the listed time and are not vaccinated, health officials recommend that you monitor your symptoms up to 21 days after exposure.
If you are in Washington, DC, Health Authority We also recommend calling your doctor or DC Health at 844-493-2652 for additional guidance. People exposed to measles are encouraged to stay home and avoid others if symptoms develop.

Nearby Maryland experienced the first confirmed case of measles on March 10th in a Baltimore airport traveler. The virus swept through much of the Northeast this winter.
Those who received two doses of MMR or Measles vaccine Or, born before 1957 is considered protected. People with only one dose of vaccine are mostly protected, but may seek a second shot for full immunity. Measles is thought to be preventable with the MMR vaccine and provides lifespan protection in two doses.

Infants under 12 months and unvaccinated are considered to be at the highest risk of measles.

As of March 20, the CDC has released a total of 378 cases nationwide.
