Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said the shooter was shot dead by officers.
“There is evidence with the shell case that he entered the target and was firing,” Schmaderer said.
Schmaderer said no civilians were injured in the incident.
A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect was Caucasian and fired multiple times from an AR-15 style rifle, Omaha police said.
Law enforcement told KETV NewsWatch 7 that the suspect was a Caucasian man in his early 30s.
Police scanner traffic showed the suspect died six minutes after he first called for help.
At this time, there are no indications as to the identity of the shooter and what relationship, if any, he had with the store.
Omaha Police said detectives and forensic scientists finished investigating the scene Tuesday night.
They also said the parking lot is now open to people who have been asked to leave their cars outside the store for inspection.
