Pope Francis88, died on Easter Monday of stroke and cardiac arrest, according to a statement from the Vatican.
Fox News’ Alex Hogan confirmed in an on-air report that the pope suffered a stroke early on April 21st and suffered a heart attack after falling into coma.
The Pope’s death follows continued health concerns, including recent hospitalizations Double pneumonia.
Pope Francis died at the age of 88.
The official death announcement took place on Monday at the Pope’s residence at St. Martha’s Chapel.

Pope Francis served for 12 years and claimed causes such as immigration rights, climate change and LGBTQ inclusion, Hogan reported.
The day before his death, the Pope met with Vice President of Vatican City JD Vance.

“Stroke is brain damage caused by impaired blood flow,” Dr. Sandip Kumar, a neurologist at Beth Israel Deacones Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, previously told Fox News Digital.

“A normal blood supply is essential for the brain to function properly and preserve its structure. Disruption of blood flow is The affected parts of the brain Once they receive oxygen and other nutrients, these tissues begin to collapse rapidly. ”
There are two types of strokes, ischemic and hemorrhagic, but ischemic stroke is the most common, accounting for 87% of all cases, according to the association.

“Blood flow to the brain can be compromised when … cerebral arteries are blocked by either a clot or a plaque,” Kumar said. “This is called an ischemic stroke.”

According to Kumar, in the case of a hemorrhagic stroke, the blood vessels that supply the brain rupture supply the brain rupture, leading to bleeding within the brain tissue.
“Hemorrhage can directly damage brain cells or receive appropriate oxygen and nutrients in surrounding tissues,” he added.
