Announced during the latest Nintendo Direct showcase, New Denpa Men The app from Genius Sonority is available to download now from the Switch eShop.
We say “download” and not “buy” because it’s completely free. Although you’ll need to explore dungeons and fight monsters to collect your Denpa Men, there’s also plenty of time to chill out and decorate your island and customize your outfits.
Local play for up to four players is also supported, so you can join in a co-op session to capture special Denpa Men. Overall, it’s not a bad deal for a free game.
Here’s the official explanation:
What is a radio human? Denpa Men are mysterious creatures born from the radio waves flying around you. Each radio wave has different information, so each Denpa Men is unique. They cannot be found with the naked eye, but you can find and catch them using “THE NEW DENPA MEN”. “THE NEW DENPA MEN” is an RPG where you go on an adventure with Denpa Men as your companions.
Let’s go on an adventure – Add the Denpa Men you want to adventure with to your party. Each Denpa Men has its own characteristics, and each stage you adventure in has its own characteristics, so we recommend forming a party that matches the stage. In addition to the main stage that you can enjoy at any time, there are also event stages that are open for a limited time, and extra stages that are unlocked when certain conditions are met. You may find treasure chests and secret passages during your adventure. Monsters await you within the stage. Battles are quick and easy with simple controls (individual instructions are also possible).
There’s a lot more to the adventure than just that – In addition to RPG elements such as adventure and character development, the game is packed with content, including your own island, island decoration elements, fishing, battling other players’ parties, “Catch Together” where you can play with nearby players with up to four players, and “Voucher Collection” where you collect “vouchers” dropped by monsters at the end of battle.
