Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Human Services (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy Jr. On a mission to make America healthy again, he is working on the most obese nation in the country and its governor.

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey, R., Kennedy held a joint event on Friday, announcing the ban on certain food dyes. The governor also had the opportunity to announce that his state had filed a waiver prohibiting participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) from using the benefits to purchase soda.

Morrisey celebrated the move, saying his condition “returns nutrition back to the nutritional subsidies support program.”

“I urge all governors to follow West Virginia leads and submit exemptions to the USDA to remove soda from SNAP. If there’s one thing I can agree on, I need to eliminate taxpayer-funded soda subsidies for low-income children,” Kennedy said. In a statement Before the event.

Morrisey’s policy could bring about major changes for West Virginia. Higher obesity More than any other state. As of 2023, West Virginia was one of three states with an obesity prevalence of over 40%, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The prevalence of obesity in Arkansas was 40%, Mississippi was 40.1%, and West Virginia was 41.2%.
