Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Human Services (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy Jr. On Monday, he said he plans to stop the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from recommending additional fluoride in water, while also putting together a task force to take on the issue.
The Associated Press reported that Kennedy spoke about his plans about the publication after attending a press conference with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Lee Zeldin.
The EPA announced Monday it is reviewing new science regarding the potential health risks of fluoride in drinking water, as it has the authority to set the maximum levels of fluoride in public water systems.
Kennedy does not have the authority to instruct the community to stop adding fluoride to the water system, but he can instruct the CDC to stop recommendations and also works with the EPA to set acceptable levels.

Kennedy oversees the CDC, but that’s exactly what the agency’s recommendations are, and not essential.
Last month, Utah became the first state to ban the addition of fluoride to common drinking water.
Still, Republican Gov. Spencer Cox has signed a law that determines whether cities and communities will add fluoride (a mineral that prevents cavities) to water systems managed by those cities and communities.

By May 7, all water systems throughout the state will be needed to close the fluorinated system.
Kennedy told the Associated Press that he is proud of Utah as the first state to ban fluoride, adding that he hopes other states follow suit.
