Ahead of the likely debut of One UI 7 this week, Samsung’s new clock app has emerged along with a preview of the company’s updated design language.
Samsung Clock v12.4.00.8 hit the web this week ( APK Mirror), Glimpse The One UI 7 beta is rolling out to a select number of users ahead of its premiere, but the new version can be installed immediately on devices running One UI 6, like the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
The new app update brings a redesigned UI to different parts of the Clock app, but overall it’s pretty similar. There’s a bit more contrast and some icons added to the bottom bar, but not much has changed in the app itself. The biggest changes can be seen on the home screen.
Samsung’s new icon design for One UI 7, seen in past leaks, sees the app update switch to an updated look for the clock icon, with a larger dial face and colored hour hand, which is in line with the more “textured” look Samsung is working towards.
Beyond that, all widgets have been improved: they consist of large shapes with fully opaque backgrounds, the Analog Clock widget now also displays hour and minute scales, and the World Clock widget is now combined into one two-color block instead of two split shapes that can be resized together.
This is in line with leaks about One UI 7, with Samsung Heavy Transforms UI elements into rounded ones.
In this early app update, Samsung’s take on Apple’s “Dynamic Islands” It’s not just down to the apps themselves: One UI 7 leaks show the Clock app taking advantage of this new UI, but on One UI 6 it won’t work, instead showing a redesigned picture-in-picture menu as seen above (to the right of the app icons).
Samsung’s first One UI 7 beta update based on Android 15 is Expected to arrive tomorrow, July 29thavailable on select devices and regions, though the company hasn’t made any announcements yet.
