Dr. Marc Siegel, senior medical analyst at Fox News, discusses the Trump administration’s initiative to develop vaccines targeting multiple viruses, and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute is studying linking potential vaccines.

The Ixchiq vaccination developed by Barneva to prevent mosquito-borne chikungunya virus was approved in November 2023 by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as the first of its kind.

Approval applies to people over the age of 18 at risk of exposure to the virus.

The first vaccine for Chikungunia virus, a “new global health threat,” has been approved by the FDA.

However, the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a safety notice on May 9th, recommencing it. Adults over 60 Suspends vaccine use due to fatal complications.

“FDA and CDC will continue to evaluate IXCHIQ’s post-market safety reports,” the release reads.

“While the safety of IXCHIQ for use in individuals over 60 has been further evaluated, the FDA and CDC recommend suspending vaccine use in this age group. The FDA and CDC will update the public once they complete their assessment of this safety issue.”

People who have experienced the adverse effects of the vaccine were reported to be between the ages of 62 and 89.

According to the CDC, typical symptoms of Chikungunya include fever, severe joint pain, headache, muscle pain and rash.
