Dermatologists warn of the risk of tiktok trends in creating “tan tattoos.”

This includes Allows the skin To create an artistic design, tan while wearing stickers, tapes or sunscreen.

Some young adults have told Fox News Digital that they used their skin as a canvas to create these tanning displays for social media attention and that they “look cool,” but skincare experts say this can be harmful to skin health.

Sharpie lip liner trends go viral as doctors warn of potential dangers

“Even though it’s creative or harmless, sunburn is a skin injury,” Dr. Anthony Rossi, a certified double-board dermatology surgeon in New York City, told Fox News Digital.

“This ‘tan tattoo’ trend still includes intentional UV damage to the skin.

Sunburn accelerates and enhances the aging process of the skin Risk of skin cancerthe most fatal form, including melanoma.

“The shape-generating patterns may look cool in the photos, but they can create dangerous UV hotspots. The damage is cumulative,” warned the doctor, who also founder of Dr. Rossis Skincare.

Experts say “old man smells” is real – here’s how you can avoid it as you get older

Rossi shared a reminiscence of a day when he was tanned with iodine, baby oil and solar reflectors – and now they’re dealing with the consequences.

“We regularly look at patients who get sunburned frequently through booths and exposures during adolescence,” he said. “By their 30s and 40s, many of them have already had cancerous lesions or Actual skin cancer. ”

“These can lead to multiple surgeries, scars, melanomas, which can metastasize and can be fatal.”

Dr. Salamo Gadham, a Del Marvaskin Specialist and Practising Board Certified Dermatologist and MOHS surgeon in Selbyville, Delaware, noted that the trend in tan tattoos is concerned and will significantly increase the risk of future skin cancer. As a teenager.

“Experience of five or more violent sunburns between the age of 15 and 20 can increase the risk of melanoma by 80% in an individual,” Moghaddam told Fox News Digital.

When sunburn occurs, UV radiation damages the DNA within skin cells, causing cells to grow uncontrollably, causing mutations that could potentially lead to skin cancer.

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) confirms that every time your skin gets sunburned, there is some degree of damage.

“This damage accelerates skin aging and increases the risk of all types of skin cancer, including melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer,” the AAD website says.

Both dermatologists said spray tongues could be a safer alternative to achieving a temporary “tan tattoo” look.

“Spraytan uses dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a sugar that reacts with amino acids in the top layer of the skin to create a temporary brown color,” Mogadam said.

To protect the skin from sun damage and reduce the risk of skin cancer, AAD recommends looking for shade, especially if “your shadow is shorter than you”, and note that the peak sun hours are from 10am to 2pm

Sunscreen routines should include using a wide range of sunscreen and wearing UV protection clothing such as wide hats and sunglasses. Outdoorsexpert advice.
