Haunted House in Space
The first time I saw Alien: Romulusthe ninth installment in the sci-fi series; March A short teaser hinted that Alvarez may be able to deliver on his intention to return the standalone film to the franchise’s stripped-down space horror roots, and there was some exclusive footage as well. Screening at CinemaCon The film, which came out in April, was filled with the expected facehuggers and chestbursters, and the full trailer, released in March, showed it to be just as gory, tense, fun and terrifying as the first two films in the series, with a spooky space haunted house feel to it.
This final trailer features a lot of the same footage but adds a few more details about the story. The young space colonists are preparing to steal “highly regulated equipment” from the aforementioned abandoned space station, mainly because Tyler thinks “it might be our only way to get out of here.” The team thinks it’ll be a quick job, in and out in 30 minutes. But we know better, right?
They are welcomed by the MU/TH/UR (the spaceship’s computer) on the Romulus space station, with Bjorn being the first to voice that this space station is super creepy. Poor Bjorn is the first to get hit by the face hugger, followed by Navarro, who in earlier footage discovered an alien growing inside her chest. In the trailer, the chest-exploding device is seen preparing to emerge, and Kay is understandably terrified. Kay, Rain, Andy and Tyler pull out their weapons and prepare to face the monster together. But what are their chances of survival against the ultimate killing machine? Especially considering the ominous final countdown to the “impact event”…
Alien: Romulus It is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 16, 2024.
