Amazon’s latest Prime Day With the sale now live, the company is advertising a ton of computer discounts in its stores, and as always, most of them aren’t worth it. But if you’re in the market for a new laptop, we’ve scoured the selection, checked the price history, and rounded up the Prime Day laptop deals below that might actually be worth your attention.

In general, Amazon isn’t the best place to buy a laptop because you can’t specify exactly what specs you want for your machine. In most cases, it’s easier to buy directly from the manufacturer. That said, there were several MacBooks, gaming laptops, and other products on sale in this sale. Recommended Notebooks It’s now down to the lowest price ever.

Keep in mind that you’ll need to be a Prime member to take advantage of some of the deals, and Prime Day itself runs until July 17, so we’ll be updating this guide as more great deals emerge.

Latest Macbook Air The price has dropped to $1,249 for a configuration with Apple’s M3 chip, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. That’s a new low, about $150 less than typical notebook sales prices in recent months and $250 less than Apple’s list price. To see the full discount at checkout, just clip the $50 coupon on the page.

The M3 MacBook Air 90 points It was highly rated in a review earlier this year and is now our most recommended overall product in our guide to the best laptops. This laptop ticks almost all the boxes for those who prefer macOS over Windows. It has a thin, premium-looking chassis, a comfortable keyboard and trackpad, a sharp, color-accurate display, more than enough battery life to get through a typical workday, good speakers, and fast performance for most things you’ll do on a laptop. You can also play more complex games, albeit on low settings most of the time. This latest model can also power two external displays, but only when the lid is closed. More than one USB-C port would be nice, and the whole thing can get a little warm, especially during heavy workloads. But for most people looking for a mainstream laptop, it’s hard to beat this one.

If you only need a laptop for basic use, Base Model The M3 MacBook Air with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD is on sale for $849 with the on-page coupon, which is $150 off the regular price of the device on Amazon and makes it a new low price.

This version has most of the advantages mentioned above, but if you multitask regularly you’ll start to feel underpowered – if you have the budget, we recommend buying a higher spec model, which will likely perform much better in both the short and long term.

of 15 inch version Meanwhile, the MacBook Air is on sale for its lowest price ever at $1,449 with a $50 coupon. That’s $250 off Apple’s list price and about $150 less than the model’s average selling price over the past few months. The discount applies to the configuration with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.

If you don’t mind less memory and storage, Base Model This one is on sale for $1,049, which is another new low price.

The larger Air is nearly identical to the 13-inch model, with the same chip and port selection, but with a wider screen and a slightly improved speaker system. If you’re happy to sacrifice portability for a better media editing and video streaming experience, it might be worth the extra cost. Review score 90 It dates back to March.

of Previous Generation MacBook Air Equipped with Apple’s M2 chip Not a dramatic downgrade It’s a little cheaper than the latest models, so if you’re just looking to use a MacBook for everyday work, this might be the better deal. Right now, the 13-inch model with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD has been marked down to $799, which is the lowest price we’ve seen it for, and $50 cheaper than the street price we’ve seen on Amazon in the last few months. That’s a saving of $200 compared to buying it directly from Apple. 512GB version Storage is also being discounted by $200 to $999.

M2 MacBook Air Review score: 96 The hardware is almost identical to the M3 model coming in mid-2022, and you get a great design with a comfortable keyboard, a sharp display, and long battery life. The chip is a bit weaker, especially in terms of graphics performance, and it can’t drive two external displays. The storage drive in this M2 model is technically Much slower It has more memory than the base model M3 Air, so it’s not ideal if you plan on frequently transferring gigabytes of large files — we generally recommend doubling your memory and storage capacity if possible — but if you’re on a budget and don’t plan on pushing your laptop too hard, this is a good value.

of 14-inch MacBook Pro You can buy this model with Apple’s M3 Pro chip, 18GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD for $1,699. While this sale has technically been running for a few weeks now, it still matches the lowest price we’ve seen and is $100 cheaper than the notebook’s usual selling price on Amazon; Apple normally sells this configuration for $1,999.

The latest MacBook Pro is more of a laptop than most people will ever need, but it’s worth it for media editors, 3D designers, and other professionals who are willing to trade the thinness of the MacBook Air for a more powerful, richer, faster Mini-LED display and additional ports. The 14-inch version is heavy at 3.5 pounds, but it’s still very well built and can handle any workload. Both the 14-inch and 16-inch versions come with: Review score 90 Late last year. We especially recommend configurations with the M3 Pro (or M3 Max) chip. There are also lower-cost 14-inch models that use the standard M3, but they’re hard to justify over the Air.

All these MacBook deals are for the new MacBooks that Apple has already released. New M4 Series With a chip update planned, it’s only a matter of time before a Mac update arrives. According to a report from earlier this year: BloombergMark GarmanThe new MacBook Pro could be released in late 2024 or early 2025, while the new MacBook Air could arrive next spring. If you’re not in a rush to buy a new Pro, it might be worth waiting, but these are still a good deal if you want to upgrade now, as the current models aren’t going to feel slow anytime soon.

Acer

Version Acer Aspire 5 15 Slim This model, with a 15.6-inch 1080p display, Intel Core i5-13420H processor, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD, has been marked down to $450 on Prime Day, which is $80 off the standard price for this model and the lowest price ever that we could find.

Full disclosure: We haven’t reviewed this particular variation, but it’s an upgraded version of the top pick in our guide. Best Cheap Windows LaptopsDon’t expect a particularly vibrant display or premium hardware (it’s mostly plastic), but the Aspire 5 series has proven to be pretty well-built so far, and the internals should perform solidly for everyday use. It even comes with a protective sleeve. It’s hard to get excited about a cheap laptop, but if you can’t afford to shell out over $500, this one will do the trick.

The biggest drawback of this setup is the lack of a USB-C port. Instead, you get a DC jack, two USB-A ports, and an HDMI port. Another variation of the Aspire 5 This model, equipped with an Intel Core i7-1355U processor, seems like a good deal at $570, a discount of about $180. It also includes a 1080p webcam and Wi-Fi 6E support, while the cheaper version is limited to a 720p camera and Wi-Fi 6. With either device, you might have to put up with some pre-installed bloatware, though.

Alienware

Moving on to gaming laptops, Alienware m18 R2 You can buy it for $2,380 in a configuration with a 165Hz QHD+ (2,560 x 1,600) display, an Intel Core i9-14900HX chip, 32GB RAM, a 1TB SSD, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 GPU. While it’s not cheap, it’s still $420 off the standard price of the device and the first big discount we could find on this model.

The m18 R2 is the top 18 in our guide for 2024. Best Gaming LaptopsAs the phrase “18-inch gaming laptop” suggests, this is a large laptop, measuring about 1.05 inches thick and weighing about 9 pounds. The battery lasts for about 4-5 hours. do not have For gaming, it’s positioned more as a desktop replacement than a portable. That said, it’s built to match, with a sturdy aluminum lid, smooth hinges, and a wide selection of ports. Most importantly, it can easily run the latest AAA games at high settings in 1080p or 1440p. Memory and storage are also user-upgradable, but the display could do with being a little brighter. This configuration comes with a membrane keyboard. Dell also offers: version It has low-profile mechanical keys and, like most laptops in this class, it gets quite hot and noisy under load.

If you want to save a little more, Alternative Settings This model, with a Core i7-14700HX chip, 16GB of RAM, and an RTX 4070 GPU, is selling for $1,880. It’s also the lowest price ever, about $385 less than the average selling price of the device these days. However, this version will struggle with more demanding games than the 4080 model, especially when playing at 1440p, so you might need to dial back on graphics settings in certain games to achieve consistently high frame rates. Technically, it also has fewer storage upgrade slots.

of Razor Blade 15 Equipped with an Intel Core i7-13800H processor, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, this model is selling for $1,600. This is the cheapest price we’ve seen for this configuration to date, and $100 less than its in-store price over the past few months. This model features a 15.6-inch, 16:9 display with 1440p resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate.

The Blade 15 has a “Premium” recommendation in our gaming laptop buying guide. It’s been on the market for over a year now, and even with this discount, it’s still our top overall pick. ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14(It’s not included in the Amazon sale.) Instead, you’ll get a Blade with a design that features clean lines and a sturdy, all-black aluminum finish (though it does attract fingerprints easily).

This configuration has enough power to play the latest AAA games at 1080p or even better, 1440p (though again, in the latter case you might need to turn down settings to see really high frame rates in certain games). It also comes with plenty of ports, and you can upgrade the storage and memory. It can get hot, and the battery life isn’t great, but if you want a 15-inch gaming machine and care about the look and feel of a notebook, this price makes it at least a little appealing.

There are a few other Razer Blade models available, but they aren’t cheap. 2024 Blade 14 For example, a model with a Ryzen 9 8945HS chip and 32GB of RAM is $200 cheaper, but still only costs $2,500. Blade 16 Price reduced to $2,599, 18-inch Blade 18 Even after Prime Day discounts, the price is a whopping $2,800.
