I was a paperback fan until I first tried the Kindle, but now I can’t put it down. The Paperwhite is the best. Kindle lineup and Our Favorite E-Readers Overall, you’ll have to pay an extra $20 to get rid of the ads on your lock screen, but if you don’t want to spend more, they don’t get in the way of your reading. Signature Edition (8/10, WIRED Recommended), 32GB of storage over 16GB, wireless charging, and auto-adjusting backlight. Kids version Comes with case and annual subscription Amazon Kids+and comes with a 2-year unconditional replacement warranty. The Paperwhite hasn’t been updated since 2021, and there’s no telling when a new model will come out, but my model is still working as well as it did when it was first released. I think it’s still a safe purchase.

Professional artists will want more, but it felt natural to use. Typically, Prefer Roku We don’t recommend any streaming devices, but if you tend to watch a lot of Amazon Prime content, buy the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Of course, anyone can use it, but it’s obviously heavily promoting Prime content. It has 16 gigabytes of storage, which is more than enough to store all your streaming apps and games. You can call up security camera footage, order pizza, or ask Alexa for anything.
Amazon also has its own Tablet Lineand our guide specifically recommends not buying a Fire tablet unless it’s Prime Day. Fire tablets are mostly crap, but if you just want to watch Amazon content and do basic tasks like email, they’re fully featured and surprisingly affordable. The Fire HD 10 is our favorite, with a 1080p screen and 3 gigabytes of RAM to handle watching videos and browsing lots of tabs. Like the Kindle, you’ll have to pay an extra $15 to get rid of lock screen ads. It’s available in 32GB and 64GB models.
Amazon’s Echo Show 8 is for us Alexa’s Favorite Smart Displays This beloved smartwatch has been around for generations, and the 2023 model is just as impressive. It sits squarely between the tiny 5-inch Show 5 and the gigantic Show 10, offering an attractive screen that’s large enough to be easily navigated without taking up too much desk space. Check the weather, video chat, add up to three information widgets, and much more. Alexa is always there to help. It’s a bit pricey at retail, but this sale makes the Show 8 a very attractive buy for anyone looking for a smart helper that does a little bit of everything. —Ryan Waniata
