Buying your first outdoor security camera may feel like a big step, but over the last few years, I’ve realized that I rarely use cameras for actual security. Instead, it’s nice to be able to see if there’s a dog in the backyard, if the gate is open, and get notified when friends come over or a package arrives. In fact, these cameras aren’t just for watching for intruders; they record life as it happens outside your door. We haven’t tested some of these cameras yet, but if you’re looking to buy one for your home for the first time, these are the best deals on outdoor security cameras we found during Prime Day.

Euphisolocum
If you ask me which camera to buy, I’ll say the eufy Solocams are my go-to when I’m not testing other cameras. I love the dual lens and 360 degree field of view, plus the eufy backup hub lets me store my clips locally.
REOLINK 5Ghz Security Camera
While I haven’t tested this model, I am currently using a similar solar Reolink model and am very impressed with how long the solar panel holds a charge. The Reolink app is not my favorite, but I think the camera resolution is great, the feed is quick to appear, and overall I have very few complaints. When it comes to setting up wireless cameras, it’s hard to beat a 50%+ discount.
Blink Outdoor 4 Camera
The Blink camera is a little more basic than other high-end security cameras, but for $39.99 it’s a real bargain. It was super easy to set up, the battery holds a decent charge, and the field of view is pretty good. The resolution is great, the system is expandable, and I love it. Tip: Get the Sync module to store clips locally without a subscription.
Ring Floodlight Cam Plus and Ring Stick Up Cam Bundle
I used this stick-up camera earlier this year to find out how my dog had escaped from our backyard, and there were two really great things about it: The camera detected motion and started recording lightning fast (it was a fleeing Doberman, that’s how fast it was). Second, the resolution was amazing. And while it looks like a shelf camera, it’s actually easy to mount to a fence or other vertical structure. The wired floodlight is essentially the same as a camera with a floodlight attached.
Google Nest Cam for outdoor or indoor use
We haven’t tested the Nest Cam yet, but we like its modern design and lack of subscriptions. If you’re part of the Google ecosystem, these cameras are a great addition. Keep in mind, though, that you’ll need a Gmail account; you can’t connect it to any other type of email account.
AOSU Wired floodlight camera
I love pan and tilt cameras for outdoor use. I can remotely control an eye in the sky to zero in on different areas of my yard. The AOSU is a relatively new addition to the market and I’ll have a chance to test it next month. Upon unboxing it, it felt well-built and I’m excited to see how it compares to my favorite eufy Solocams. It has a similar design and gives you a 360-degree field of view with a 2600 lumen floodlight.
