Everybody, come together wherever you are. James Mangoldof”Completely unknownThe official video for ” has been released for the first time. Timothée Chalamet As Bob Dylan.
The biographical drama, due in theaters this December, was written by Mangold and Jay Cocks and chronicles the folk music legend’s early days in New York, leading up to the electrifying moment he picked up an electric guitar during a performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.
In the trailer, Chalamet walks the streets of Manhattan, passing by some of Dylan’s favorite haunts, including Cafe WA and the Chelsea Hotel, and belts out Dylan’s 1963 protest song, “A Hard Rain’s Going to Fall.” A love triangle appears to be brewing between Dylan, Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro) and Sylvie Russo (Elle Fanning), who appears to be a fictionalized version of Suze Rotolo, Dylan’s then-girlfriend who appeared on the cover of his album, “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.”
The cast includes Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, PJ Byrne as Harold Leventhal, Scoot McNairy as Woody Guthrie, Dan Fogler as Albert Grossman, and Will Harrison as Bob Neuwirth.
“A Complete Unknown” is based on Elijah Wald’s 2015 book “Dylan Goes Electric” and was originally titled “Going Electric,” but it borrows a phrase from Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone,” the plugged-in folk-rock anthem that changed everything.
Mangold described the film’s Dylan as “a drifter from Minnesota with a new name and a new outlook on life.” His arrival caused “tremendous upheaval in the folk community and what they thought was proper folk and illegitimate folk.” The real-life Dylan, 83, said: I left a note in the script. I have had multiple meetings with Mr. Mangold.
The film began shooting in New York and New Jersey in March. Paparazzi photos of Chalamet It became a hot topic on social media.
