ForbesToday’s New York Times “Strand” hints, Spangled, Saturday, July 13 answersby

Hello everyone! I hope you have a great weekend, whether you’re out and about or relaxing at home.

Today’s New York Times Strand Hints, spangrams and answers are displayed instantly.

How to play with strands

The New York Times’ Strand The puzzles are a play on the classic word search. In the NYT Games app, Wardle and connection (This is also featured in the Daily Guide Forbes Games).

There is a new game Strand You can play every day. In the game, you’re presented with a 6 x 8 grid of letters. Your goal is to find groups of words that have something in common. You’ll get a hint as to what the theme is. When you find a themed word, it will be highlighted in blue.

You also need to find special words called spangrams, which show what words have in common. A spangram connects at least two edges of the board, but doesn’t necessarily start or end there. Theme words are not proper nouns, but spangrams can be. When you find a spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.

Each letter appears once in one of the themed words and spangrams. Letters can be strung vertically, horizontally or diagonally and can even switch direction mid-word. If you’re playing on a touchscreen, double-tap the last letter to submit your guess.

Once you’ve found three valid words of four or more letters that aren’t part of the theme, the Hint button will unlock. Clicking it will highlight the letters that make up one of the words in the theme.

Beware: don’t get carried away! Sometimes you’ll need to fill in missing words in a phrase, and other days the game revolves around synonyms and homonyms. The difficulty level varies from day to day, and the creators of the puzzles may try to surprise you.

What’s your Strand tip for today?

Scroll slowly! Right after today’s tip Strand Solving the puzzle will reveal what the answer word is.

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further until you’re ready to find out today’s news. Strand answer.

First I’ll explain the spangram and show you where it is on the grid, then I’ll explain the other words and show you how they fit in.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Strand Spanglam is…

The rest of today Strand The theme word is…

  • peat
  • Hilarious
  • Winnie
  • fill in
  • game
  • Buzz
  • Hairy
  • atom

The finished grid looks like this…

The Strands grid for July 14th is complete. Words such as PEAT, HOMOPHONES, MERRY, WHINNY, FILL, and GAME are written on it. … [+] RUSTLE, HAIRY, and ATOM.

The New York Times

I didn’t have many clues here so I unlocked the PEAT clue on the top left. That didn’t help much so I unlocked the second clue to get the letters FILL, which at the time I thought were homonyms of the name (Pete and Fill). I found GALE (Gail) on the right, confirming my suspicion.

That’s when I saw the spangrams blocking out the words HAIRY and MERRY on the right, then RUSTLE on the left, leaving me with the words WHINNY and ATOM.

I used two clues and the fourth theme word I found was spangram.

That’s all for today Strand Hints and Answers. If you need any hints and answers for Monday’s game, be sure to check out my blog.

P.S.: I can’t get this song out of my head because it was the hint for today’s theme. It’s a great song.
