This study used data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other benchmarks from the 100 most populous cities in the United States, each ranked for sleep duration and quality.

According to the survey results, the following are the top 10 most sleep-deprived cities:
- Norfolk, Virginia
- New Orleans, Louisiana
- Detroit, Michigan
- Toledo, Ohio
- Cincinnati, Ohio
- Indianapolis, Indiana
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Laredo, Texas
- Cleveland, Ohio
- Memphis, Tennessee
