Chef Naomi Pomeroy said, Best Chef Masters Emily Brown, who rose to fame as an award-winning restaurateur in 2011, died in a tragic accident while out on the water. She was 49 years old.
The Benton County, Oregon, sheriff’s office, where she lives, said Tuesday that Pomeroy drowned in the Willamette River around 8:25 p.m. Saturday.
“BCSO’s investigation determined that three adults who were playing on tubes and paddle boards (two of the tubes were secured together and the paddle board was attached to Naomi) became entangled on an exposed rock in the water,” the department said in a new release. “One of the adults, Naomi, was pulled underwater and was unable to escape due to the leash on her paddle board.”

Authorities found two other adults, including her husband, Kyle Linden Webster, and a friend, but were unable to find Ms Pomeroy. Authorities continue to search for her, who is “the first drowning death of the year.”
Police “used every tool available to them, including sonar, underwater cameras and drones, but were unable to find any trace of Naomi in the area due to the large amount of debris in the water.”
They warned the public not to strap themselves or tie inner tubes to paddle boards.
Pomeroy is known among fans as Best Chef She was a contestant in the third season Top Chef MasterShe participated in the show, in which celebrity chefs compete to be crowned champion, as a representative of Portland’s restaurant Beast, and won a James Beard Award in March 2010.
Pomeroy was eliminated in the episode before the finale, but returned to the show on several occasions as a guest judge.
The show paid tribute on social media: “Bravo and the Top Chef family extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Chef Naomi Pomeroy. Naomi was a talented chef who left an indelible mark on the culinary industry.”

She continued to cook at restaurants during that time, and though her best-known establishment closed during the pandemic, she also ran other ventures, including “Garden Party,” a summer dinner series featuring vegetables from her garden.
