RFK JR. Calls for fluoride removal from drinking water, causing controversy
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says fluoride strengthens teeth and reduces cavities by replacing minerals lost during normal wear and tears.
However, critics have long said that washing teeth with fluoride is not comparable to the risks posed by ingesting fluoride, the latter can cause harmful neurotoxic effects. Fluorides used in public systems are not normally naturally generated fluorides, but instead are sourced from the phosphate fertilizer industry and are captured during processing to prevent environmental emissions.
A Utah legislator who called for the ban said putting fluoride in water was too expensive to improve dental health. Growing up, Cox raised his own child in a fluorinated, waterless community, but recently compared by the government to “take medicines.”

Rep. Stephanie Grisius, a Republican, told Fox News Digital in January that he had been working on the bill since early last year, noting that fluoride is a prescription regulated by the federal government.
“Community water fluorination and informed consent, it is based on good ones health carewe cannot coexist,” Grisius said.
She said only two of Utah’s 29 counties practice community water fluorination. 70,000 childrenresearchers found that there was no significant difference in child teeth decay between counties that add fluoride and those that do not.
“In fact, counties with the lowest amount of collapse do not add fluoride,” she said.
The American Dental Association has sharply criticized Cox and Utah legislators, indicating that the ban “want to ignore the oral health and well-being of their members.” The group said that tooth decay is the most common chronic pediatric disease.

Fluorides in water related to lower intelligence
Health and Human Services (HHS) Director Robert F. Kennedy Jr. vowed in November to ban practices across the country.
“Fluoride is an industrial waste associated with arthritis, bone fractures, bone cancer and IQ loss. Neurodevelopmental disorders Thyroid disease,” RFK wrote in a November X post.
Kennedy, considered the father of the Maha movement since he approved President Trump’s presidential election in July, aims to improve nutrition, eliminate toxins, maintain its natural habitat and combat the country’s chronic disease epidemic.
If Kennedy ended the practice, the policy that Grand Rapids was first enacted 80 years ago would be overturned, making Michigan the first city in the world to fluoresce water supply.
Today, more than 200 million Americans, or about 75% of the population, drink fluorinated water.
