It’s perfect for those who want a larger screen but don’t want to spend the money on a MacBook Pro. 13-inch MacBook AirIt’s got it all: a modern design, a 1080p webcam, and the latest M3 chip. The base model has an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, and in my testing it easily handled 41 Chrome tabs, multiple apps, and three separate windows. Acer’s Chromebook Plus 514 (8/10, WIRED Recommended) is a recent newer, more Powerful ChromebooksIt has everything you need for everyday tasks, like browsing the web, editing documents, and chatting with friends. The keyboard and trackpad are unusually good for a Chromebook, and the touch display feels great. It’s not going to win any design awards, and it doesn’t have a backlit keyboard, but it’s a pretty capable laptop for the price. It’s been on sale for $320 for a few months, but it was further reduced on Prime Day to make it the cheapest it’s ever been. Acer’s laptop names can be confusing. The model number here is A315-24PT-R0UX, which is also confusing, but at least you can use it to compare with other models. This is Our Favorite 15-inch Low-cost LaptopsIt’s powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 7520U processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB NVMe SSD, making it the best value of any 15-inch laptop we’ve tested. It’s big, and the display isn’t the sharpest, but it won’t strain your eyes. Interestingly, the title says 16GB RAM, and so does one of the specs listings, but another says 8GB RAM. And because it’s Amazon, you never know what you’re actually getting. If you end up with 8GB, return it.
