Saturday’s showcase drew 3.44 million viewers on ABC, breaking the previous viewership record of 1.441 million viewers who tuned in to ABC for a Saturday afternoon game at Madison Square Garden in 2003. That game featured many of the all-time greats, including Lisa Leslie, Sue Bird, Dawn Staley, Cheryl Swoopes, Cynthia Cooper, Tamika Catchings, Tina Thompson, Lauren Jackson, Theresa Weatherspoon, Chamiq Holdscrow, Katie Smith, Yolanda Griffith, Swin Cash and Nykesha Sales (and the first All-Star guard from the New York Liberty, Becky Hammon).

This year marked the second year in a row that ESPN/ABC executives decided to broadcast the WNBA All-Star Game in prime time on their network (ABC), which led to a huge increase in viewership in addition to more exciting action with a star-studded lineup on the court.
